Evangelism Ministry Team

In his final words to his disciples Jesus gave the command, "Go therefore and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…"(Matthew 28:19).

The instrument God has used throughout the ages to make disciples has been the Church. In light of Christ's mandate, Evangelism is the first responsibility mentioned for the Church under "The Great Ends of the Church" in our Presbyterian Book of Order (G-1.0200). Our mission is "to tell the good news of salvation by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ as the only Savior and Lord…" (G-3.0300a) The purpose then of the Presbytery's Evangelism MinistryTeam is to strengthen in every way this sharing of the Good News of Salvation in Jesus Christ by the Presbytery itself and by its constituent member churches throughout the Seattle Presbytery. Specifically, the Evangelism Ministry Team will plan and prepare events and activities to support this purpose. Likewise, the Evangelism Ministry Team will seek to enhance communication and networking between churches to help fulfill this "Great End of the Church" in Seattle.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Plan and prepare events including seminars, retreats, training programs, and other venues to enhance the sharing of the Good News by our member churches.
  • Identify and support the growth of effective "witnessing" and evangelistic outreach on the part of our churches and to network that information to all who are interested.
  • Supply helpful literature and tools to all who ask and give encouragement to all churches for creative outreach for Christ to their communities.
