In cooperation with the General Assembly's Office of Spiritual Formation, the Presbytery's Spiritual Formation Ministry Team works with the understanding that "Spiritual formation is the activity of the Holy Spirit who molds our lives into the likeness of Jesus Christ. This likeness is one of deep intimacy with God and genuine compassion for all of creation." The SFMT works to increase the practice of spiritual disciplines in the congregations of the Presbytery, in keeping with the long tradition of spiritual formation in the Reformed context. These spiritual practices include worship, personal and corporate prayer, contemplative listening, acts of justice and compassion, discernment, and Sabbath keeping.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
- Provide resources for spiritual growth for the Presbytery through various means.
- Plan conferences, retreats and create opportunities that will promote the corporate experience of our spiritual life and ministry.
- Identify and support the development of clergy and lay leadership in spiritual formation in their existing contexts of ministry.
