Mission Challenge '07

Our guest, Reverend Holslag has been teaching English and Theology at the Lithuanian Christian College in Klaipeda, Lithuania since 1997. Over the years, she ahs worked ecumenically with a variety of institutions in that area of Europe to establish relationships between congregations in the United States and congregations in eastern Germany and Poland. She has many interesting experiences to relate hopefully to as many groups, i.e. Sessions, mission committees, women’s groups and others during her week with us, as possible.

Jane Holslag, a native of Denver, received her BA in English and education from the University of Colorado, and her MDiv from Princeton Seminary. At present, she is on study leave from her assignment with the Lithuanian Christian College. While serving as a part-time pastor with a small Reformed German congregation near Berlin, she is working on a PhD in East German church history.

In order for her visit to be successful, I am requesting churches of the Seattle Presbytery to help arrange opportunities for her to speak. Please ask the appropriate committees or groups in your own congregation to provide such events, small luncheons or dinner or even non-meal meetings, possibly in conjunction with another near-by congregation, to hear her unique experience of serving in an area once under domination by Russia.

Jane will be staying with Inez Allan, who is praying for your assistance to make this visit as success. Call 425-747-9148 or email Inez at inezd@comcast.net to help arrange for Jane to speak. Inez will provide materials with pictures when they are available. This is a wonderful opportunity for churches in the Seattle Presbytery to shine in assisting mission and missionaries.
